An Anglo-Saxon village in Flicco Britannia: a hall, houses, fields and villagers

The curriculum

The British history studies, played

Flicco Britannia follows one valley in Wessex through the KS2 British studies, a chapter for each age. The chapters we have so far:

Changes in Britain from the Stone Age to the Iron Age

The Iron Age now: a farm of the Atrebates, its roundhouses, grain pits and hillfort. The Stone and Bronze Ages to come.

The Roman Empire and its impact on Britain

The conquest, the hillfort, the road, the villa, Boudica, and the end of Rome.

Britain’s settlement by Anglo-Saxons and Scots

The Anglo-Saxons now: newcomers and Britons, village life, kingdoms and laws, the conversion. The Scots to come.

The Viking and Anglo-Saxon struggle for England

To come: the raids, the Great Army and Alfred’s burh, ending in 1066.
